Calculated Field for the Calendar Date Filter DropDown

Posted by PANVEGA on April 14, 2009

When filtering the SP Calendar Items in a View, the Start Time and End Time are not visible in the DropDown Control somewhy. Only in the Sorting list they are visible.

Approach:

I’m almost sure ethere is better way. However this is a quick and dirty solution:

  1. Open Calendar list settings.
  2. Add new column called (by example) Begin.
  3. Choose “Calculated” as a type of new column.
  4. In the Formula field insert the following formula:
  5. =[Start Time]
  6. Select Date and Time as data type of new column.
  7. Clear check from “Add to default view” checkbox.Gibe the Columns a new name
  8. Save the new column.

Do the same steps with the End Time Field in order to filter the Date values in your View.

Now you should be able to use the column called Begin instead of Start Date when you need to filter calendar list.
